Weight Limits

All sizes of Mighty Bin are rated to safely carry their allowable weight limit, which is different for each size Mighty Bin.  The generally accepted industry practice for such weight limits is150kg per cubic metre. Mighty Bin allows weight limits which are 50kgs more than the industry standard for each size Mighty Bin.  The weight limit for each Mighty Bin is the maximum weight allowed based on the quoted pickup fee.  If you exceed the allowable weight you will be charged an additional fee to cover the extra tip costs at the rate of $11 per 100kgs.

Maximum weights for each Mighty Bin are as follows:
• 1m³ Mighty Bin - 200kgs
• 2m³ Mighty Bin - 350kgs
• 3m³ Mighty Bin - 500kgs

As a general guide to staying within the weight limits, if you have heavy material like rocks, concrete, soil, clay, stones and bricks which you wish to put in your Mighty Bin then you shouldn't fill any more than the bottom 10cm of your Mighty Bin with that heavy material.  You can then place any lighter rubbish and waste on top of the heavy material and fill the Mighty Bin up with this lighter rubbish.

NB Our driver checks and weighs each Mighty Bin prior to pickup.

Steeply sloping sites and difficult access

If you have a steeply sloping site or if access is difficult then you may not be able to use a Mighty Bin. This is because we cannot pick up Mighty Bins from properties where our pickup truck cannot be safely stablized using its outriggers because your site is, in our driver's opinion, sloping too steeply or the access is too difficult or unsafe.

If our driver comes to your address and decides that he cannot pick up your Mighty Bin because the site is too steep or access is too difficult for him to safely pick up your Mighty Bin then YOU WILL BE CHARGED $100 CALL OUT FEE  and your Mighty Bin will not be removed.

Hazardous and toxic waste

You CANNOT put hazardous or toxic waste, such as tyres, asbestos (or similar type sheeting or products), computer screens, TVs, chemicals, food and medical waste, in your Mighty Bin.  If you are unsure what you can put in your Mighty Bin check the instructions on the website, the packaging or the Mighty Bin itself, or ring us on 1300 087 895.

Our driver will check what type of waste you have put in your Mighty Bin before he picks it up.  If there is ANY hazardous or toxic waste in your Mighty Bin then our driver will REFUSE TO PICK UP it up and you WILL NOT BE GIVEN A REFUND of your pickup fee.

How To Set Up Your Mighty Bin

 1.    Read the terms and conditions and the instructions found on the packaging, the Mighty Bin itself or on the website.

2.    Decide where you want to conveniently locate your Mighty Bin according to the following  placement instructions:

Your Mighty Bin must be placed within 4 metres of the street kerb or driveway as shown below.  Any driveway needs to be at least 3 metres wide to allow safe access for our truck.   Our truck requires 9 metres of height to safely collect your Mighty Bin, so you must not place your Mighty Bin under tree branches, phone or power lines.   If you place your Mighty Bin behind a fence then that fence must be no more than 1.2 metres high.

3.    Take the Mighty Bin out of it packaging and simply lay it flat on the ground with the black straps on the outside.

4.    Step inside the bag, and beginning in one corner, fold the sides down and out from the top to give the bag its initial shape, as shown below.

You can fill your Mighty Bin using a wheelbarrow by folding down one end of the Mighty Bin right to the ground so that wheelbarrow can run over the folded end.  As the Mighty Bin gets fuller you can use a properly secured ramp placed against the Mighty Bin to enable you to wheel the wheelbarrow up to the top of the Mighty Bin. You must ensure that the ramp is safe before attempting to do this.

5.    Place larger flat items or heavier debris in the Mighty Bin first, covering the bottom 10 cm of the Mighty Bin as evenly as possible as shown below.

6.    Continue loading, rolling up the sides up as the Mighty Bin fills.
7.    Once you have filled your Mighty Bin order a pickup on 1300 087 895. Pickup will be made within 5 working days of you ordering your pickup.

Important safety notices: a) Never move your Mighty Bin after filling. Dragging or moving it could cause injury to you or others and may damage the Mighty Bin, b) do not leave your Mighty Bin in direct sunlight for more than 3 months once you have taken it out of its packaging.
